This project is part of a legacy of construction excellence built at a respected Nevada contractor, now carried forward by the Plenium Builders team.
Continuing a Proven Model
Following the success of the District’s prototype elementary school, this project carried forward the model’s key ideas while adapting the design to a new site and community. The two-story campus provides capacity for 745 students and relieves overcrowding in one of Reno’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.
A Competitive Build with Collaborative Roots
While the original prototype was delivered through a CM-at-Risk process, this project was competitively hard-bid, demonstrating how strong relationships and technical understanding can translate seamlessly between delivery methods. The team’s familiarity with the model’s systems, materials, and sequencing supported a smooth transition from preconstruction to field execution.
Refining the Prototype for Efficiency and Quality
Minor adjustments were made to improve constructability, standardize materials, and enhance durability while maintaining the design intent. Features such as the geothermal heat-exchange system, daylight-balanced classrooms, and drought-tolerant landscaping reflect the District’s continued emphasis on sustainability and long-term operational performance.
A Consistent Standard for Future Schools
Inside, 28 classrooms, three shared “Hub” spaces, and a dedicated STEAM lab create a flexible environment for collaborative learning. The design supports security and supervision while preserving openness and natural light.
The success of this project confirmed the effectiveness of the District’s new model and the strength of its partnerships. Built through open competition yet grounded in trust, it illustrates how collaboration and efficiency can endure beyond a single delivery method, setting a consistent standard for future schools.
