Step inside the next chapter of the University of Nevada, Reno’s campus experience, where students, athletes, and the community will soon gather under one expansive roof. The new indoor fieldhouse, now under construction adjacent to Mackay Stadium, is set to become a hub for sports, student life, and wellness. From the earliest stages of planning, the project has been defined by collaboration—between Tolles Development as the project lead, the University’s dedicated staff, and a design team committed to creating a facility that meets a wide range of campus needs.
Preconstruction Partnership in Action
Early involvement in preconstruction allowed the entire team to map out the project’s complexities and design an implementation plan that prioritized value and minimized disruption to daily campus operations. The open exchange of ideas with University representatives and the design team led to thoughtful solutions for everything from student safety to event scheduling. This careful approach has set the stage for construction to proceed on budget, with risk mitigated at every step.
A Facility Designed for All
At 72,000 square feet, the fieldhouse offers 110 yards of indoor turf—ample space for Nevada club and intramural sports, year-round practice for Wolf Pack Athletics, and a host of campus and community activities. Flexible by design, the facility accommodates training for football, soccer, and softball, along with marching band rehearsals, ROTC drills, student events, and youth programs. The vision: a welcoming, multi-purpose venue where wellness and connection are front and center.
Built on Long-Term Relationships
Few projects come together as smoothly as those rooted in lasting partnerships. Some team members have been working on the UNR campus for nearly three decades, and that experience brings a depth of insight to each phase of the project. Tolles Development’s leadership and the University’s proactive involvement have ensured that challenges are anticipated and resolved quickly. The shared goal: to deliver a state-of-the-art fieldhouse that enhances the student experience for generations to come.
